Solutions for Parking Garages

Parking garages impart high loads that result in excessive settlement when constructed on compressible soils. Aggregate piers and soil mix columns allow construction on spread footings. Micropiles can be retrofitted to existing columns or jet grouting can underpin to increase load capacity for expansions or to stop settlement. Compaction grouting fills voids/sinkholes and densifies soft zones under planned or existing garages. Vibro compaction stabilizes soils to improve bearing capacity and limit settlement. Many techniques are available to provide excavation support and/or permanent earth retention for the construction of underground garages while protecting adjacent structures from movement. Whatever the parking garage challenge, Hayward Baker has likely solved it before.
