Engineer John Nunez receives the 2024 ADSC Bill Maher Scholarship.
John started with Keller four years ago and works as an Engineer in our Northeast BU. He was awarded the one-time amount of $3,000 to support his master’s degree program in geotechnical engineering from The New Jersey Institute of Technology, where he also received his bachelor's degree.
The Bill Maher Scholarship was formed in honor of the late William F. Maher, serving ADSC on the Board of Directors, Executive Committee, and as President. He was also President of the legacy Keller company McKinney Drilling before his passing in 2017.
Senior Engineer Scott Jacobs wins ADSC Contractor of the Year.
Scott Jacobs, PE, DC.GE, was awarded Contractor of the Year at the ADSC Annual Meeting in January in San Antonio, Texas. He holds a BS in civil engineering and an MS in geotechnical engineering from the University of Florida. Scott has 23 years of experience in geotechnical engineering and contracting. He is Chair of the DFI Working Platform Group, Vice Chair of the DFI Drilled Shaft Committee, and a voting member of the ACI 336 Drilled Shaft Committee.
The Contractor of the Year award is presented to an individual who has contributed significantly to ADSC. Scott received this award due to his involvement and participation in promoting safe working platforms through presentations for various DVGI and ADSC Chapters and his efforts promoting the Industry-Wide Working Platforms Working Group (DFI/ADSC.PDCA) Recommended Industry Practices for Safe Working Platforms guidance document.
Project Executive John Grillo was voted in as an ADSC board member.
John Grillo, P.E., BC.GE leverages over 19 years of experience as a geotechnical engineer. He holds a BS from Manhattan College and an MS in engineering degree from Cornell University. John is a licensed Professional Engineer in both New York and New Jersey, and he is also a board-certified geotechnical Engineer. He actively participates in the industry, having held positions such as Vice President of the Board of Directors for the ADSC Northeast Chapter, Chairperson for the ASCE Geo-Institute Met Section, a member of The Moles, and currently serves as the 2024 IFCEE chair.
